Soil on Hands

Snow is falling down down down on our little northern village. It seems sometimes all you can think of in these winter months as it blankets our world. But I must admit thoughts of gardening, soil on my hands, standing by the river, feet on the grass, hanging clothes in the sunshine have already started creeping into my head. Winter is beautiful here, but I've never appreciated Spring so much in my life. To see the grass again is a wonderous sight.

The store is closed because the white stuff is shutting everyone in their little houses. Maybe I'll bake some bread or work on Valentine's today or paint for a while. Yes, it's definitely a good day to paint. I'll say this for winter, it's definitely the best time to daydream about sunshine and trees and all the beauties of Spring hidden beneath the frozen world.

"In the Northland Snow"

Looks like we're in for more snow tomorrow. Jake's even been writing songs about it.

And here's another song, not about snow, but very pretty nonetheless.

He's also got a new album up on his website, Home to Be and there's a whole ton of songs on his You Tube page. I can't keep up with that one. But go listen if you haven't! He's got many lovely things to hear.

And I have finally done a little updating to my shop with some scarves and gnomes. Hopefully there will be more soon, but I'm slow as a turtle about internet things lately on account of my eye still irritating me. I haven't been able to read much either which is very sad because I got some lovely books for Christmas that I've been hoping to get started on. But luckily Jake and I started the enormous task of reading Lord of the Rings out loud, well, he's been kindly reading it to me every night, such a sweet one he is. And I think he's waiting for me to get off this thing to go hear some now so off I go to curl up and hear some more about what's going on with Merry and Pippin at the moment!

Jake's Snake

Just popping in to share a few of the handmade gifts we gave each other this Christmas. Jake made me this awesome painting (which when framed will actually be cut into three panels). I'm covering the wild stag a little with my fingers.

And here is a new friend to our household, Mr.Snake, sewn up on my good ol' sewing machine. Most snake's are cold blooded, but not this one. Just pop him in the microwave and he's a toasty neck warmer. He's filled with lavender and flax seed for all sorts of relaxation and sore muscle goodness.

Merry Making and Cold Season

Hello! Sorry for pulling a disappearing act. I've been having some trouble with one of my eyes, not sure the cause, but it's been irritated and so I've been staying off the computer box. Happy 2009! I'm a bit foggy in the head with a cold too, but I wanted to let you know the crafting hasn't stopped... just my body isn't cooperating lately to post. I have many things to share from the holidays... crafting and celebration wise, but I'm still needing to get myself better... some hot tea would be good. So for now, just a few things... I'll pop in with some more pictures this week if I'm not too sleepy and sneezy for the task.

(This is a gocco image I printed I fabric and have been turning into an army of stuffed balsalm gnomes.)

(And these were just a house warming gift for my sister... I should make some for us, we never seem to have a potholders when we need them... I was having some fun with sewing machine stitches.)
